Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The interior reveals light wooden shelves against a pale back lining. The cabinets display minor historic knocks, marks, cracks, scratches, wear, imperfections, repairs, and alterations consistent with age and everyday use, and each measures 53 cm wide by 26 cm deep by 105 cm high. Positioned in a gentleman's library, study, or living room, these display cabinets provide practical storage for books and decorative objects while lending period character to domestic interiors. They stand together as a matched pair, offering compact storage that fits easily against wall spaces.

FAQs

A pier cabinet is a narrow, decorative storage piece originally designed to sit on the pier wall between two windows in 19th-century interiors.

These cabinets were constructed using solid wood frameworks, glass door panels, brass gallery rails, and cast brass or bronze ormolu mounts.

Authentic period examples display hand-fitted joints, original glass with slight surface variations, age-appropriate wear to painted finishes, and natural oxidisation on brass metalwork.

Position them symmetrically to frame a fireplace, alcove, or doorway, using the glazed shelving to house curated ceramics, books, or decorative objects.

Dust surfaces using a dry microfibre cloth, avoid applying harsh solvent cleaners to painted areas, and carefully spot-clean brass fittings using cotton swabs to prevent finish damage.
