Opaque twist wine glasses feature a stem enclosing white or coloured enamel threads drawn into a spiral or lace-like lattice pattern, popular in Britain during the mid-to-late 18th century.

They were hand-blown using lead glass, with the intricate stem twists formed by incorporating opaque white glass rods into the molten metal before drawing and twisting.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit pontil marks on the underside of the folded or conical foot, minor surface wear consistent with age, and small trapped air bubbles within the handmade glass.

Displaying period stemware inside a glazed cabinet or upon a dedicated sideboard allows the intricate glasswork to catch natural light while serving as a focal point of historical interest.

Antique glasses should be hand-washed gently in lukewarm water using mild detergent and dried immediately with a soft lint-free cloth, avoiding dishwashers and sudden temperature changes.
