Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The World is Made of Glass Ltd.

This is a Georgian, English, double series opaque twist stem firing glass dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1765.

The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.

The glass has an ogee-shaped bowl measuring 5.3 cm (2.1 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is finger flute=moulded to the lower half and sits on a double series opaque twist stem consisting of sixteen white enamel ''cotton'' strands wound around a central lace twist. The stem leads to a thick terraced firing foot which measures 7.2 cm (2.9 inches) in diameter. The glass is 10 cm (4 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There are a couple of thin unburst bubbles in the metal of the foot dating from manufacture.

Lead glass weighing in at 180 g. (~ 6 oz.).
