A rummer is a heavy-bottomed drinking glass with a short stem and a bucket or ovoid bowl, widely used in Britain during the late 18th and 19th centuries for serving beer, wine, and punch.

Authentic period rummers are typically made from lead glass, known for its high refractive index and weight, and feature either blown bowls with applied feet or mould-blown construction with hand-cut fluting.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the pontil mark on the underside of the foot, the heavy weight of the lead glass, minor surface wear or scratches consistent with age, and slight optical distortions in the glass body.

These versatile pieces can be displayed on an open shelving unit, used as small floral vessels on a dining table, or integrated into a bar cart arrangement to add historical texture to a room.

Antique glass should be hand washed carefully in lukewarm water using mild detergent and dried immediately with a lint-free cloth, avoiding abrasive sponges and dishwashers entirely.
