Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian figured walnut furniture is distinguished by rich, swirling grain patterns sourced from the burl or root of the walnut tree. Popular during the mid-to-late 19th century, these pieces feature detailed carvings, classical mouldings, and high-quality cabinet-making techniques.

These cabinets were constructed using solid timber frameworks, often covered in high-grade veneers such as figured walnut or mahogany. Glass panes were hand-fitted into moulded timber doors, with components joined using traditional dovetail and mortise-and-tenon craftsmanship.

Authentic Victorian pieces display era-specific construction markers including hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass locks, stamped maker signatures, and natural aging on timber and original glass.

A substantial Victorian cabinet serves as a focal point in contemporary interiors when set against neutral walls and offset by modern lighting. Arranging glass shelves with curated ceramics alongside books creates a balanced juxtaposition between historic and modern design elements.

Maintain walnut veneer by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish annually following the grain line. Avoid placing timber furniture adjacent to direct heat sources or damp exterior walls to prevent veneer movement.
