This is a mid-European (probably German) enamelled spirit flask dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1750. The flask is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with over 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the base. The flask is rectangular in shape with canted corners measuring 8.5 cm (3.4 inches) in width, by 7 cm (2.8 inches) in depth and 18.5cm (7.4 inches) in height. The flask is polychrome enameled with displays of flowers to the broader sides. There are enamelled polychrome leaf fronds and flowers on the narrower sides between circular motifs on the corners and a red, white and yellow enamelled band to the top of the flask, which is topped off by a pewter cap at the neck.
