The Regency period in British history refers to the years between 1811 and 1820, when George, Prince of Wales, ruled as Prince Regent due to his father George III's mental illness. While the political Regency officially lasted for those nine years, the term "Regency" is often used more broadly to encompass the period from roughly 1795 to 1837, including the reigns of George III, George IV, and William IV, according to some historical and cultural definitions.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in early 19th-century Britain, these heavy lead glass vessels were designed to hold ice and chill wine or champagne bottles on formal dining tables.

They were hand-blown from heavy lead crystal and manually decorated using stone wheel-cutting techniques to create deep geometric diamond and prism patterns.

Authentic period glass exhibits noticeable physical weight due to high lead content, hand-cut facets with minor irregularities, and faint friction wear on the underside base.

These vessels function as decorative centrepieces on sideboards, dining tables, or bar carts, holding floral arrangements or serving as functional ice buckets during entertaining.

Wash by hand using warm water, mild liquid soap, and a soft cloth, avoiding automated dishwashers and sudden temperature shifts that cause thermal shock.
