Enamelled silver vanity items gained immense popularity during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, often crafted by silversmiths specialising in dressing table sets.

These items typically combine sterling silver mounts, hand-cut lead crystal or glass bodies, and vitreous enamel or guilloche decoration on the lids.

Authenticity is usually verified by clear silver hallmarks indicating the assay office, date letter, and makers mark, alongside traditional hand-cut glass facets.

Such pieces function well as reflective accents on dressing tables, mantelpieces, or open shelving, adding a touch of metallic texture to contemporary spaces.

Care involves cleaning the glass with mild soapy water and polishing the silver components gently with a specialised microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals on the enamel.
