Rare Clock/barometer by Ganthony of London

19th century
Description

A rare and large wheel barometer with the unusual feature of a single fusee clock to the centre.

Thr case is veneered with Rosewood and features a level dial to the base signed by the maker Ganthony of London. The large 12 inch barometer dial is beautifully engraved with typical weather indications, scrolls, swags and a depiction of the world.

The enamel clock dial has finely made blued steel hands. Above this there is a removable Thermometer and at the very top a removable Hygrometer. The case is finished with a swan neck top and has some very intricate edge inlay featuring boxwood, ebony and kingwood.

A rare and high quality example.
