The Queen Anne style emerged in England during the late 17th and early 18th centuries, characterised by graceful curves, cabriole legs, and a shift away from heavily carved rectilinear furniture toward more refined, domestic comfort.

Cabinet makers typically utilised native timbers such as oak or pine for carcasses, veneered with highly figured burr walnut veneers. Construction often involved hand-cut dovetail joints, solid timber mouldings, and traditional hide glues.

Authentic pieces generally display period-appropriate construction methods such as hand-cut dovetailing, irregular timber shrinkage, period hardware fixings, and natural patination developed through centuries of oxidation and use.

Pairing classical wooden furniture with minimalist modern surroundings creates a balanced, layered aesthetic, allowing the rich grain and warm tones of the timber to act as a focal point without overwhelming the space.

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels and keep wooden furniture away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber cracking or veneer lifting. Periodically apply microcrystalline wax to nourish and protect the finish.
