For sale, a good Japanese Arita Imari Bird and Chrysanthemum decorated bottle vase, 18th century. The vase is of well-rounded form with a good drawn neck, decorated in underglaze blue of dark inky tones, highlighted in iron red and gilt with sparrows in a floral landscape, between geometric design panels. The vase is in undamaged and unrested condition. Some wear to the gilt as shown in the pics. The glaze with the normal shrinkage glaze crackle as often found on these 18th century type Japanese wares. Size approx. 26.5cm tall. A most attractive example in excellent condition.
