Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian scumbled pine doors are 18th or early 19th-century interior woodwork pieces crafted from pine and treated with a scumbling paint technique. Scumbling involves applying a translucent glaze over a lighter base coat to imitate the richer grain and depth of hardwoods like oak or walnut.

These doors were typically constructed using native pine or pitch pine, assembled with traditional mortise and tenon joinery. They feature fielded or recessed panels, turned timber spindles, and cast brass escutcheons or latches.

Authentic period doors display evidence of hand-planed timber surfaces, hand-cut joinery, and uneven structural dimensions. The original scumbled finish often exhibits light craquelure, surface wear, and historic paint layers around the brass keyholes and timber edges.

Architectural salvage doors can be re-fitted into custom alcove cabinetry, incorporated into bespoke kitchen pantries, or mounted on walls as decorative timber features to add texture and historical character to modern spaces.

To preserve historic scumbled finishes, clean surfaces gently with a dry lint-free cloth or soft brush. Avoid abrasive chemical cleaners or stripping agents that remove original paint layers, and apply a light coat of clear beeswax sparingly to protect the timber surface.
