Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian amethyst jewellery features natural quartz gemstones set in intricate yellow gold mounts, often paired with seed pearls. During the nineteenth century, amethysts were favoured for their rich purple hues and symbolic association with devotion.

Necklaces from this period were commonly crafted from 15ct or 18ct yellow gold, featuring hand-cut natural gemstones such as amethysts, garnets, and seed pearls. Gold alloys of 15ct purity were official British standards between 1854 and 1932.

Authentic pieces often exhibit hand-cut gemstones with slight irregularities, closed or collet settings, and British hallmark stamps indicating 15ct gold (marked .625). Construction methods typically show hand-soldered jump rings and delicate chain links.

Antique pendants and drop necklaces are often worn alongside modern minimalist chains for a layered aesthetic. Alternatively, historical jewellery can be displayed in glass-fronted shadow boxes or velvet jewellery trays as decorative dresser accents.

Clean yellow gold surfaces gently with a soft microfibre cloth, keeping moisture away from natural pearls which are porous. Avoid chemical cleaners, ultrasonic devices, and direct contact with perfumes or hairsprays.
