Description

A refined 1960s single strand cultured pearl necklace, beautifully finished with an ornate 9ct gold amethyst and seed pearl clasp, fully hallmarked London 1966.

The necklace is composed of graduated cultured pearls in a soft cream-silver tone with delicate pink overtones and an excellent lustre. Recently restrung in August 2026, the pearls have been individually hand-knotted in the traditional manner, giving the strand a beautifully supple drape and added security.

The real focal point is the superb rectangular box clasp. Finely crafted in 9ct gold with an attractive pierced surround, it is set to the centre with a large emerald-cut lilac amethyst, framed by a border of creamy seed pearls.

The contrast of the soft violet amethyst against the warm gold and lustrous pearls is particularly attractive and gives this classic necklace a distinctive mid-century character.

At 20 inches long, the strand sits gracefully below the neckline and is ideal for both day and evening wear.
