Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Famille verte is a category of Chinese porcelain decorated using polychrome overglaze enamels dominated by green copper tints. Introduced during the Ming dynasty and refined during the Kangxi period of the Qing dynasty, these ceramics feature naturalistic scenes, fauna, and floral compositions.

These pieces are constructed from kaolin clay bodies shaped through press-moulding or slab-building for square forms, followed by an initial high-temperature glaze firing. Overglaze enamel pigments are subsequently applied by hand and fixed in a secondary, lower-temperature muffle kiln.

Authentication involves examining the foot rim for unglazed kaolin texture, checking enamel wear patterns, evaluating the palette for period-accurate copper-green oxidisation, and comparing base marks against documented period calligraphy.

A famille verte vase creates a focal point when displayed as a standalone accent on a dark wood sideboard or set within a neutral shelving arrangement. Pairing the green hue with natural linen textiles or brass accents highlights its detailed brushwork.

Preserve overglaze enamels by dusting gently with a soft microfibre cloth or horsehair brush, avoiding abrasive chemicals or prolonged immersion in water. Display the ceramic away from direct sunlight and high-traffic areas to prevent physical impact or thermal shock.
