Rummer glasses gained immense popularity in Britain during the late 18th and 19th centuries, commonly used for serving ale, wine, and rum in domestic and tavern settings.

These drinking vessels were traditionally crafted from lead glass or flint glass, characterised by a heavy weight, high refractive index, and a deep resonant ring.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit pontil marks on the base, minor surface irregularities, wear scratches indicative of age, and variations in glass thickness due to hand-blown manufacturing methods.

Displaying historical glassware in illuminated cabinets, open shelving, or utilizing them as standalone decorative accents adds texture and historical depth to contemporary spaces.

Antique glass should always be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and abrasive materials to preserve the fragile surface.
