Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A matched pair of nineteenth-century William IV pedestal cabinets originates from the continent around 1830. Constructed from warm brown mahogany, the pieces display a flame mahogany veneer with a sunburst design on the top, complemented by giltwood bands, small round brass handles on single panel doors, and four giltwood bun feet beneath each square base. The hexagonal body sits on a moulded base, presenting a grand Regency aesthetic suitable for domestic placement as bedside tables. Measuring 83.5 cm high, 46 cm wide and 46 cm deep, each cabinet provides interior storage space accessed via a door. The structures remain in very good condition with a recently re-lined interior shelf, ready for everyday use in a bedroom or living space today.

FAQs

Dating from the 1830s, hexagonal pedestal cabinets are multi-faceted storage cupboards designed with classical architectural proportions, frequently utilised as bedside furniture or display plinths.

Cabinetmakers utilised flame mahogany veneers over solid pine or oak carcases, frequently incorporating gilded wood mouldings or brass accents alongside turned timber feet.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-planed secondary timbers such as oak or pine, original surface patination on mahogany, and era-appropriate hardware.

These cabinets serve effectively as flanking bedside tables in a bedroom, as lamp stands beside a sofa, or as display plinths for sculpture within an entryway.

Maintain mahogany surfaces by applying a high-quality beeswax polish twice yearly along the wood grain, keeping items away from direct heat sources, and avoiding aerosol sprays.
