Edwardian glassware often features lighter, more delicate designs compared to the heavier Victorian styles, incorporating brilliant-cut patterns and rich colour palettes achieved through gold chloride in the glass mixture.

These items were typically made from lead crystal or soda-lime glass, cased with a thin layer of cranberry-tinted glass over a clear base, then hand-cut on a wheel to reveal the contrasting clear crystal underneath.

Authentic pieces often exhibit minor surface wear, hand-polished pontil marks or smooth bases, slight irregularities in the cut patterns, and a heavy feel characteristic of period lead content.

Displaying historical glassware on open shelving, within glass-fronted cabinets, or using them as small decorative vases brings vibrant colour and textural contrast to modern table settings.

Wash antique glass gently by hand using lukewarm water and mild dish soap, avoiding harsh scrubbing, abrasive detergents, and automatic dishwashers to protect the delicate surface finish.
