Technical Description
 
An 18th-century Balustroid wine glass. It has a bell bowl above a shoulder cushion knop, inverted baluster and basal knop. Conical folded foot.
 
A fine elegant example.
 
Date & Origin
 
England, c1740. Period of George II.
 
Condition
 
Excellent, age-related wear as shown.

Foot diameter: 6.3cm.
 
Historical Context
 
Hand-blown around the time King George I died on his way to Hanover in 1727. His son, George, Prince of Wales, became King George II of Great Britain.
