Technical Description

An 18th-century bonnet glass with a rib moulded Ogee bowl. A superb rudimentary ribbed stem with a conical foot and snapped pontil. A very fine example.

Rib moulding is rare on a bonnet glass, the vast majority being diamond or honeycomb moulded.

Date & Origin

England, c1780. Period of George III.

Condition

Excellent, no chips cracks or restoration

Height: 6.8cm

Rim diameter: 6cm

Foot diameter: 5.2cm.

Historical Relevance

Hand-blown around the time King Louis XV disbanded French parliament on the 9th of May 1753.
