Fine quality swedish wall clock of the empire period circa 1840. Beautifully carved, surmounted with doves. 2 silhouette églomisé glass panels (1 of which has a break). Craquelure to clock face with some rubbing and wear, decorated with hand painted roman numerals.

This nineteenth-century Swedish wall clock belongs to the Gustavian Neoclassical style of the Empire period, circa 1840. The piece is formed of giltwood, gesso, glass, and brass, rendered primarily in a gold colour with black eglomise glass panel silhouettes, and exhibits craquelure and rubbing to the dial alongside minor gilt losses and a break to one upper eglomise panel. The elaborate ornamentation includes a cresting of two kissing doves, flanking torch and quiver motifs, foliate side urns, dentil mouldings, and classical figures painted on glass panels.
