The Georgian period spans the reigns of the four King Georges from 1714 to 1830, characterised by significant advancements in glass manufacturing, particularly the heavy use of lead crystal and the introduction of distinct drinking vessel forms tailored for specific beverages like ale, wine, and cordials.

These pieces were typically hand-blown using lead glass or flint glass, which provided a brilliant clarity and heavier weight. Techniques such as mould-blowing were often utilised to create decorative optical effects like half-wrythen fluting on the bowl.

Authentic pieces often exhibit characteristic pontil marks on the base where the glassblowers iron was detached, minor surface wear consistent with age, and subtle asymmetries or air bubbles trapped within the hand-blown metal.

Antique stemware can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, open shelving, or utilised selectively on bar carts to introduce historic texture and authentic craftsmanship into modern living spaces.

Antique glass should always be hand-washed gently in lukewarm water using mild detergent and dried immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth. Dishwashers and harsh chemicals must be strictly avoided to prevent scratching and chemical degradation of the glass surface.
