Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Imari porcelain is a traditional type of Japanese export porcelain originating from the town of Arita in the Hizen province, shipped from the port of Imari to European and domestic markets since the early Edo period.

Authentic pieces are crafted from fine kaolin clay, fired at high temperatures, and hand-painted underglaze in cobalt blue, with overglaze enamels added in iron red, gold, and secondary pigments during a subsequent lower-temperature firing.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit dense hand-painted floral or brocade motifs, characteristic colour palettes of deep cobalt blue and rust red with gilt accents, visible potting marks, and appropriate age-related wear on the foot rim.

These vessels serve as striking focal points when displayed on mantelpieces, sideboards, or open shelving, adding rich colour, pattern, and historical texture to both neutral and eclectic modern schemes.

Keep porcelain out of direct sunlight to prevent enamel fading, dust gently with a soft dry cloth, and avoid using chemical cleaners or immersing antique items in water, particularly those with overglaze gilding.
