The George II period is characterised by a transition from heavy baroque influences to more refined classical proportions, featuring architectural hoods, brass dial spandrels, and quality cabinet work.

These clocks typically feature solid native timbers such as oak, walnut, or mahogany cases, housing brass mechanical movements with iron and steel components.

Authentication involves examining the movement for hand-cut wheels, checking the timber for period-appropriate aging and construction methods, and ensuring the dial and movement correspond correctly to the case.

Position the clock in a hallway, study, or living room where its vertical lines can add architectural height and traditional contrast to contemporary furnishings.

Maintain stable ambient temperatures away from direct sunlight and moisture, wind the movement carefully according to its specific schedule, and have it professionally serviced every few years.
