FAQs

Kashmiri craft traditions date back centuries, heavily influenced by Persian and Mughal aesthetics, featuring intricate hand-painted floral and botanical motifs on wood or papier-mache surfaces.

These pieces are typically constructed from seasoned wood, hand-carved into specific forms, gessoed, meticulously hand-painted with mineral or vegetable pigments, and sealed with a protective varnish.

Authenticity is determined by the fineness of the hand-painted detailing, natural ageing of the varnish layer, traditional turning techniques in the woodwork, and period-appropriate electrical wiring or fittings.

They function effectively as accent pieces on sideboards, consoles, or bedside tables, introducing artisanal texture, colour, and pattern into eclectic or traditional schemes.

Dust gently with a dry, soft cloth, keep away from direct sunlight to prevent pigment fading, and avoid the use of chemical solvents or moisture on the painted surfaces.
