These 1930 Paris porcelain table lamps in the French Chateau style combine white porcelain, brass, and silk. The urn-form bodies display fluted porcelain, hand-gilded scrolls, white enamel floral designs, and Chinese trellis-work markings. The lamps are mounted on solid bronze bases set on black timber plinths and are topped with cream pleated fabric shades. Each lamp measures 88 cm high, 15 cm wide, and 15 cm deep overall. Suitable for modern homes, these lamps provide functional lighting when placed on a sideboard top in a living room, dining room, or hallway. The traditional braided cable, inline switches, and standard large bayonet fittings complete the electrical setup.

Paris porcelain, often referred to as Vieux Paris, describes hard-paste porcelain created by independent factories in and around Paris from the late 18th century through the 19th century. The style is recognised for its elaborate hand-gilding, classical urn shapes, and detailed painted decoration.

These lamps are typically constructed from high-fired hard-paste porcelain, finished with hand-applied gold leaf or gilt enamels. They are often mounted on cast brass or bronze plinths and converted for electrical lighting using brass fittings.

Authentic Paris porcelain often lacks factory makers marks, as many Parisian workshops operated independently without royal manufacture monopolies. Identification relies on examining the weight of the hard-paste body, evidence of hand-applied gilding showing light surface wear, and high-quality cast metal mountings.

A pair of large porcelain lamps can be arranged symmetrically on a long sideboard, console table, or matching bedside cabinets to create visual balance. Pairing classical gilt porcelain with neutral tones and modern artwork provides an effective contrast in contemporary spaces.

Clean porcelain bases using a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove dust without disturbing delicate gilded areas. Avoid liquid cleansers, abrasive polishes, or chemical detergents, as these can strip historical gold leaf and tarnished surface patination.
