HENRI JACOT: a very fine quality late 19th century French CARRIAGE CLOCK by this eminent maker. The unusual two-tone gilded case is of broadly speaking “Corinthian Column” design, with good bevelled glass panels all around, whilst the perfect enamel dial features a delightful engraved and gilded two-tone mask.
The eight-day movement retains its original platform lever escapement, striking the hours and half-hours on a gong and repeating the hours at will via the button to the top. Perfect working order and guaranteed at least two years. Signed within an oval to the back of the dial-plate, and numbered 7288. 14.5ins high; 10cms wide; 9cms deep. (5.8 x 4 x 3.5ins) French circa 1880
