Georgian glassware, produced during the reigns of the four King Georges from 1714 to 1830, is characterised by heavy lead content, deep optical mouldings, and hand-blown manufacturing techniques that gave pieces distinctive weight and clarity.

These items were typically crafted from potash-lime or lead glass, formed using a combination of free-blowing, mould-blowing, and applied foot techniques by skilled glassmakers.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the base, inclusions or tiny air bubbles within the metal, irregular thickness due to hand-forming, and the characteristic greyish or bluish hue typical of period lead glass.

Display antique glassware in well-lit cabinets, open shelving, or as accent pieces on sideboards to allow natural light to accentuate the historic texture and form.

Wash antique glass gently by hand using lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding harsh scrubbing, sudden temperature changes, and dishwashers to protect the delicate surface.
