Originating as a shallow cup or trophy on a pedestal, the tazza evolved during the 18th and early 19th centuries into a prominent serving vessel used for displaying sweetmeats, desserts, and fruit at formal dining tables.

Regency glassware was typically hand-blown using lead metal glass, which provided a heavy weight, clear resonance, and high refractive index, often featuring blown-moulded stems and applied or folded rims.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the underside of the foot, subtle irregularities or air bubbles within the handmade glass, and the characteristic greyish-blue tint of early 19th-century lead glass.

Such decorative serving pieces can be utilized as minimalist centerpieces on dining tables, or styled on sideboards to hold seasonal fruit, candles, or curated collections of small objects.

Antique glass should be hand-washed gently in lukewarm water using mild detergent and dried immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals, extreme temperature changes, and dishwasher use.
