This Georgian tankard dates to 1800 and belongs to the gentleman's library style. It is made from Old Sheffield plate comprising silver and copper, showing a silver colour with very slight copper showing through to the raised edges. The cylindrical body displays horizontal reeded banding around the centre and the base, a visible vertical seam, an engraved monogram to the front, and a curved C-scroll handle with a very slight dent to the top. The interior is clean and the piece has a false bottom. The tankard measures 16 cm high, 15 cm wide, and 10.5 cm deep. It functions effectively today when placed on a sideboard top for display.
