Palais Royal glass encompasses luxury novelty items sold in the Palais Royal galleries of Paris, primarily during the late 18th and 19th centuries, often featuring opaline glass and gilt bronze mounts.

These pieces generally combine opaque opaline glass blown or moulded into specific shapes, mounted with gilt bronze or brass framing, and often lined with velvet or silk.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-finished gilt work, heavy bronze or brass mounts with period-appropriate patination, and glass characteristics consistent with nineteenth-century manufacturing techniques.

Display the piece on a mirrored vanity tray, dressing table surface, or within a glass-fronted cabinet to highlight its craftsmanship and delicate materials.

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth and avoid submerging metal-mounted pieces in water to prevent damage to the gilt surfaces and internal fabric linings.
