FAQs

Slice cutting is a decorative technique involving flat, vertical or horizontal facets ground into the glass surface, predominantly popular during the 19th and mid-20th centuries to enhance light refraction.

These pieces are typically crafted from flint glass or lead crystal, shaped using traditional blown and moulded techniques before being hand-cut and polished on stone wheels.

Authenticity is identified by examining weight, lead content clarity, minor irregularities from hand-working, and the crispness of the facet edges compared to modern machine-pressed alternatives.

They can be displayed openly within glass-fronted cabinets or used to add textural contrast and reflective quality to a modern dining table setting.

Hand washing in lukewarm water with mild detergent is recommended, avoiding sudden temperature changes and harsh dishwashers to protect the delicate crystal structure.
