Small Chinese Inlaid Black Lacquer Cabinet

A fine quality Chinese inlaid black lacquer cabinet. The cabinet is an unusual design with two drawers, a cupboard and stand above, all lacquered and gilded. The door panels and cabinet sides are all beautifully inlaid in soapstone, with some pieces intricately engraved, and a very small quantity of ivory. The panels on the front depict an interior scene with figures and those at the sides are floral with a bird. The cabinet is also unusually mounted with the cloisonne enamel hinges and escutcheon. The whole is a fine example of the type, interesting and decorative, in good untouched condition with some areas of wear but no losses to the inlay. C.1900.
