Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Invented by Jean-Leon Reutter in 1928 and refined by Jaeger-LeCoultre, the Atmos clock operates via minute changes in ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure. The design became an icon of Swiss horological engineering throughout the mid-twentieth century.

Atmos clocks are constructed with a heavy brass case, often gilded or nickel-plated, set with clear glass side panels. The internal bellows mechanism contains a hermetically sealed mixture of ethyl chloride gas and liquid.

Authentic pieces feature serial numbers stamped into the top of the movement plate, precise Jaeger-LeCoultre branding on the dial, and a locking lever mechanism beneath the dial to secure the balance wheel during transit.

An Atmos clock serves as a sophisticated accent piece when positioned on a dark wood mantelpiece, a minimalist sideboard, or within a curated bookcase alongside refined leather-bound volumes.

The timepiece must be placed on a perfectly level surface using its integrated bubble level, kept away from direct heat sources, and locked via the transport lever before any relocation to protect the delicate suspension spring.
