This 18th century Georgian Welsh oak linen press cupboard displays a warm brown timber colour with visible grain. The piece consists of a tall upper section with a moulded dentil cornice and a pair of shaped, ogee arched fielded panel doors, fitted with brass knobs and key escutcheons. The lower base contains four rows of drawers with brass swan-neck handles and keyholes, supported by straight block feet. The wardrobe measures 198 cm high, 135 cm wide, and 59 cm deep. Practical for everyday storage, this piece fits well in a bedroom, dressing room, or hallway as a wardrobe and general storage cabinet. The interior provides a hanging space for garments, while the lower drawers organise folded clothing, linen, or accessories. The traditional design suits an English country house interior or a period home setting, combining display storage with robust utility.

A Georgian linen press is a two-part wooden storage cabinet constructed during the 18th and early 19th centuries, featuring an upper cupboard with shelves or slides for folded linens above a lower chest of drawers.

These cupboards were predominantly crafted from native oak, utilizing hand-dovetailed drawer joints, fielded door panels, reeded mouldings, and solid timber backboards secured with wooden pegs or hand-forged nails.

Authentic Georgian pieces display hand-sawn timber marks, slight irregularities in hand-cut dovetails, original brass escutcheons or drop handles, and natural timber shrinkage across wide backboards and panels.

A large oak press functions as a focal storage piece in modern bedrooms, dining areas, or entrance halls, combining functional storage with historic timber character.

Maintain the oak surface by applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice per year, keeping the cabinet away from direct heat sources to prevent timber movement and cracking.
