Glassware from the Regency and early Victorian periods is characterised by heavy lead crystal content, deep hand-cut geometric facets, and frequently applied gilding or delicate copper-wheel engraving.

These pieces were crafted using traditional lead crystal, shaped via free-blowing or mould-blowing, and subsequently finished by hand on a cutting wheel before any surface engraving or gilding was applied.

Authentic items typically display minor surface wear consistent with age, irregular pontil marks on the base, slight variations in hand-cut facets, and hand-applied gilding showing natural rubbing.

Such pieces can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, used as accent items on a sideboard, or incorporated into formal table settings to introduce historic texture and reflective metallic detail.

Antique crystal and gilded glass must always be washed by hand in lukewarm water with mild detergent, avoiding dishwashers, harsh chemicals, and abrasive sponges to protect the delicate gold leaf and glass surface.
