Technical Description
A superb set of six mid-19th century opaque twist wine glasses.
They have conical bowls with an annulated shoulder knops. They sit on thin double series opaque twist stems and conical feet with polished pontils.
The form, which is very distinctive, with the shoulder knop and very thin stem is attributed to the Edinburgh and Leith Glassworks in the first half of the 19th century.
We''ve had very few of these glasses over the years, but this is the very first time we have had or seen and complete set of six. They are for the era in which they were made, wine glasses, however, today, based on the size of the bowl, we are more likely to classify them as port or sherry glasses.
A magnificent period set all in original condition.
