This is a mid-European (probably German) enameled milchglas (milk glass) spirit flask dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1750.
The flask is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with over 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the base.
The flask is rectangular in shape with chamfered corners. It measures 6.5 cm (2.6 inches) by 5.2 cm (2.1 inches) in width and is 12.5 cm (5 inches) in height. It is blown in white, milk glass and is enamelled in brown, blue and yellow with floral sprigs on each side, the narrow chamfered edges being enamelled with brown spots. The shoulders are enamelled in blue and brown. The cap is of yellow metal and would originally have had a screw top. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.
It weighs in at 185 g. (~ 6 1/2 oz.).
