Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced primarily during the 1920s and 1930s in France, Rene Lalique opalescent glass is distinguished by its translucent, milky blue appearance created by adding specific compounds during the formulation and cooling process. The designs feature raised relief motifs inspired by nature, foliage, and geometric Art Deco patterns.

The glass was crafted using mould-pressed techniques, where molten glass was pressed into intricate metal moulds to form detailed relief designs. Controlled cooling rates and chemical compositions produced the signature opalescent hue where the glass is thickest.

Authentic pieces usually feature an etched, moulded, or wheel-cut signature, such as R. LALIQUE or R. LALIQUE FRANCE, typically positioned near the centre or base edge. Genuine items exhibit precise relief detail, notable weight, and smooth finishing without sharp mould seams.

Displaying opalescent glass on a sideboard or open shelving where light passes through highlights the blue and warm amber tones. It functions effectively as a standalone accent piece on dark wood or polished stone surfaces.

Wash gently by hand using lukewarm water and mild dish detergent, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or dishwashers. Dry thoroughly with a soft microfibre cloth to prevent water spot accumulation and protect the surface finish.
