Elmgarden has dated this Oriental Carved Camphor Chest to the 1930s.
However the main reason for using camphor wood is its fragrance it smells a bit like Eucalyptus and this most attractive of smells repels moths hence its common use in the best quality Blanket Boxes, it has a clean interior and a lattice tray at the top
The carvings are mainly of country scenes, the chest is carved on every side, and comes with the original lock
The Chest is in good condition, it is 35” long x 18” high and 17” deep
