Victorian glassware encompasses a wide range of decorative and utilitarian vessels produced during the reign of Queen Victoria, known for advances in pressing techniques, vibrant colours, and eclectic stylistic revivals.

These items were typically crafted from lead crystal or soda-lime glass, often incorporating mineral oxides such as uranium or iron to achieve distinct colourations like Vaseline or forest green.

Authenticity is determined by examining pontil marks on the base, surface wear patterns, subtle manufacturing imperfections such as bubbles or straw marks, and the specific weight and chemical composition of the glass.

These pieces can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets or incorporated into contemporary table settings to introduce historic character, tactile depth, and rich colour contrast.

Antique glass should be washed strictly by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and abrasive sponges to protect the delicate surface finish.
