FAQs

Italian maiolica is a type of tin-glazed earthenware dating back to the Renaissance period, renowned for its vibrant colours and detailed narrative painting.

Maiolica is crafted from local clay, fired into bisque, coated with a white tin glaze, and hand-painted with metallic oxide pigments before a final gloss firing.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit age-related crazing, hand-painted brushwork inconsistencies, mineral pigments, and historical stylistic motifs characteristic of specific Italian regions.

It functions effectively as a sculptural focal point on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or console table, contrasting against minimalist backdrops to highlight its craftsmanship.

Keep ceramic pieces out of direct sunlight, avoid harsh chemical cleaners, clean gently with a soft dry cloth, and maintain stable indoor humidity levels.
