Beautiful Scottish Mahogany Longcase Clock

19th century
Description

Beautiful early to mid 19th century Scottish mahogany cased 8 day longcase clock by JAMES HOGG of HADDINGTON. The clock is all totally original. The flame mahogany case has been made from beautiful veneers with boxwood line inlays and cross banded edges. Horn top with original brass patera. Quarter reeded columns to the trunk with matching reeded columns to the hood. The case retains its original bracket feet. The dial is beautifully painted and retains its original gilded brass hands.

The movement has been fully serviced and as such is in full working order. The clock strikes on a bell on the hour only.

The case is a gorgeous mellow colour with waxed finish. There are a couple of minor age cracks to the base panel.
