Regency 12" Convex Dial Fusee Wall Clock

19th century
Sold by Clockwise
Description

Clockwise is delighted to present for your consideration a fine early Victorian English eight day fusee timepiece dial clock.

Finished in lovely oak with the narrow wooden surround typical of its time this is a stunning piece of furniture dating from the 1820-1830 period. The case has a lovely patina and is of a standard pegged design with the surround pegged to the back box. The original cast bezel closes firmly and frames the lovingly restored twelve inch convex dial within the turned surround perfectly; original steel hands finish off the glorious appearance. The maker's name is present - Wilson of Cambridge - who was a watchmaker and jeweller situated at 23 Market Hill in Cambridge. There is both a lower door and side door to the case and the eight day high quality movement, which has tapered shoulders to the plates (again, typical of the late Georgian/early Victorian period), has just been serviced with new line fitted and comes with my three year worldwide guarantee as standard. An original fusee 'butterfly' key accompanies this rare piece.

Clockwise specialises in longcase and bracket clocks and with clients from the world of business, film, sport, royalty and aristocracy - yet more than happy with traditional clients - Clockwise has an unrivalled reputation for excellence and superb service.

Delivery can easily be arranged, please contact me for details.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
