A wonderful monumental longcase clock from the Mid Victorian period. The case has the most attractive feathered mahogany veneers, the box base has an eight sided bevelled star type design with the centre crossbanded with ebony lining. Most unusual is the thumbnail edging to the hood, middle and base. The top is set off with a swan neck pediment, above turned columns to the hood sides. The eight day movement is ticking away nicely and the painted dial has religious overtones at the top and hand painted castles and houses to the corners.
