We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian hot water pots were introduced as key components of elaborate dining and tea services during the nineteenth century. Designed to hold boiling water to dilute concentrated tea or coffee at the table, these vessels reflected the formal entertaining customs and silversmithing advancements of the era.

These vessels were primarily crafted from sterling silver (925 purity) or heavy silver plate. Handles and lid knobs were frequently made from carved ebony, rosewood, or fruitwood to provide heat insulation for the user.

Authentic British silver from 1881 bears a complete set of hallmarks stamped into the metal. Look for the leopards head (London assay mark), the lion passant (sterling silver standard), the duty mark featuring Queen Victorias profile, a date letter F for 1881, and a registered makers mark.

Place the silver pot on a dining room sideboard, drinks trolley, or kitchen shelving alongside glass decanters or ceramic tableware. It functions as a decorative focal point that introduces historic metallic contrast to contemporary interiors.

Clean silver using a gentle silver foam or non-abrasive polish with a soft cotton cloth to remove oxidisation. Avoid submerging wooden handles or finials in water, and store the piece in a dry, low-humidity environment inside a anti-tarnish cloth bag.
