Cobalt blue glass became popular during the late Georgian and Regency periods, often produced using high-temperature cobalt oxide colourants to achieve deep, vibrant hues for serving spirits and wines.

These pieces were mouth-blown using free-blown or dip-moulded lead glass techniques, often featuring applied rings, pontil marks on the base, and associated metal or glass stoppers.

Authentic pieces typically display rough snapped pontil scars on the underside, minor surface bubbles, natural glass impurities, and wear consistent with age rather than machine perfection.

They can be displayed on a sideboard or within a bar cabinet to catch natural light, adding rich colour and historical texture to modern shelving or surface tops.

Wash by hand using lukewarm water and mild detergent without soaking, avoiding sudden temperature changes and abrasive scourers to protect the historic glass surface.
