Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the late 19th century, an Aesthetic Movement opaline glass basket is a decorative table vessel featuring translucent or opaque opaline glass mounted with a silver-plated handle, often decorated with Japanese-influenced botanical and bird motifs.

These vessels were typically crafted from hand-blown opaline or art glass, decorated with hand-applied enamel paints, and mounted with electroplated nickel silver or sterling silver handles and rims.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-painted enamel decoration with visible brushwork, smooth pontil marks on the base of the glass, period maker marks or electroplate hallmarks on the metal mounts, and natural age-related tarnishing on the metalwork.

Position the piece as a decorative centrepiece on a dining table, sideboard, or mantelpiece, using it to display dried flora or allowing its hand-painted imagery to stand alone against dark or neutral backdrops.

Clean the glass gently using soft, dry microfibre cloths to avoid compromising hand-painted enamel work; clean the silver-plated mounts with specialised silver polishing cloths rather than harsh chemical dips or abrasives.
