Description

This brass carriage clock known as the “Pompadour” by Charles Frodsham & Co has a white enamel dial with the chapters painted in Roman numerals.

The enamel dial is masked by a pierced fretwork design in lacquered brass. It has an 8-day movement which would have been hand-built by the Company's craftsmen.

The clock has been stripped, cleaned and lightly lubricated and is running well, keeping very good time.

Original key present.

This Pompadour Carriage Clock was named after Madame de Pompadour, celebrated mistress of Louis XV of France. A clock of this same style was

reputed to have had pride or place in her Boudoir.
