A Late 19th C French Classical Grecian Style Glass Vase.

Description

This most elegant and pleasing classical Grecian style glass vase was made in France, circa 1880 and was inspired by ancient Greece. It has a tall baluster form and stands on a small flared foot and is well balanced with a tall flared neck and plain rim. The vase is made from opaque white glass separated with pale blue overlaid panels with hand painted Greek key boarders. The central section is most striking and bears a classical Grecian soldier in full uniform with spear and shield riding an elaborate chariot which is being drawn by two powerful horses. This printed and hand gilded decoration is very detailed and the gilt elements catch the light and glisten beautifully. The reverse of the vase is plain apart from a small hand painted classical motif. This hand blown vase is finished on the underside with a snapped off pontil from its manufacture.

Having sold their retail premises, the antique business is now fully online. The picture framing service has ceased to operate because of moving online.

All items will be personally hand packaged to a high standard. Small items are extensively wrapped using the best materials and are often double boxed. Items are then shipped with DHL or Royal Mail fully insured and often with next day delivery. Larger items would be personally delivered or sent with a specialist antique delivery firm, or for outside the U.K, a professional shipping company.
